Global Markets 24 Hours provides calculated regular-session status for 12 stock exchanges — NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, XETRA, EPA, SIX Swiss, TSE, HKEX, SSE, ASX, SGX, BSE — plus a separate 24/7 crypto spot reference. It shows local times, scheduled session status, and countdowns. It is not a live exchange-status feed.

The session status calculations are performed in your browser using JavaScript's built-in date and timezone handling. The market hours displayed are derived from each exchange's published schedule and are adjusted dynamically for the correct local time in each timezone, including applicable daylight saving time offsets. The optional watchlist requests price quotes from our server, while advertising and consent services may process data as explained in our Privacy Policy.

In addition to the live dashboard, the site provides comprehensive educational content about global trading sessions — how they work, how they interact, and how understanding session timing can make you a more informed and effective market participant. The trading hours displayed on this site are based on each exchange's published regular-session schedule. Regular hours represent the standard continuous trading session for each venue. Pre-market and after-hours windows (where shown) reflect extended electronic trading periods made available by exchanges, brokers, or connected electronic venues.

Session status is calculated client-side using the current time and standard IANA timezone identifiers (such as "America/New_York" and "Europe/London"). The site accounts for daylight saving transitions automatically. Published full-day holidays and NYSE/NASDAQ 13:00 ET regular-equity half-day closes are included. Other shortened sessions, closing auctions, half-day extended hours, unexpected closures and last-minute exchange notices require official verification. Users should consult the official exchange or their broker before time-sensitive decisions.

Every market session status shown on this site is calculated entirely within your browser using the JavaScript Intl.DateTimeFormat API and IANA timezone identifiers. When you load the dashboard, your browser determines the current moment in UTC and then converts it to the local time of each exchange using named timezone strings such as America/New_York, Europe/London, and Asia/Tokyo. These timezone definitions are maintained by the IANA Time Zone Database (also called the Olson database), which is embedded in all major browsers and operating systems and updated whenever governments change their DST rules.

The session boundaries — open time, close time, pre-market window, and after-hours window — are hardcoded from each exchange's official published schedule. The live dashboard compares the current local time at each exchange to these fixed boundaries, second by second, to determine whether a market is in its pre-market, regular, after-hours, or closed state. The progress bar on each card represents how far through the current session window the exchange is, as a percentage.

Because all of this runs in the browser, the accuracy of the displayed times depends on your device's system clock being correctly set. On modern devices connected to the internet, this is virtually always the case thanks to network time protocol (NTP) synchronisation.

There are many market data sites on the internet, but most are either paywalled, cluttered with financial products to sell, or require creating an account to access basic session information. Global Markets 24 Hours is designed to be completely free, completely open — no account, no paywall, no data subscription required — and focused exclusively on the one question that matters most at the start of a trading day: which markets are open right now?

The site uses no external market data APIs for its session status calculations. All session timing is computed locally in your browser, which means the site works without backend API dependencies for the dashboard itself. The live price quotes in the watchlist feature do make outbound requests to retrieve current prices. The dashboard follows the published schedules and your device clock, including NYSE/NASDAQ 13:00 ET regular-equity half-day closes. Other shortened sessions, unexpected closures and exchange notices may not be reflected immediately.

Because no user accounts are needed, no personal data is stored on our servers. Your watchlist — if you choose to use it — lives entirely in your browser's local storage, private to your device. We believe that access to basic market information should not require surrendering personal data.
