About Shanghai Stock Exchange

The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) is one of the two major stock exchanges in mainland China, the other being the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Established in 1990 following China's market reforms, the SSE has grown to become one of the world's largest exchanges by market capitalisation. The exchange lists mostly large state-owned enterprises and established domestic companies. International investors can access the SSE through the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect programme.
