Pre-market and after-hours windows (where shown) reflect the extended electronic trading periods made available by each exchange or the ECNs connected to it.

Session status is calculated client-side using the current local time of your device and standard IANA timezone identifiers (such as "America/New_York" and "Europe/London"). The site accounts for daylight saving time transitions automatically, as these are embedded in the timezone data. However, exchanges occasionally observe modified hours for public holidays, special market events, or emergency closures. These irregular sessions are not reflected in the live dashboard, and users should consult each exchange's official website or a primary market data provider for holiday schedules and real-time status during unusual circumstances.

Every market session status shown on this site is calculated entirely within your browser using the JavaScript Intl.DateTimeFormat API and IANA timezone identifiers. When you load the dashboard, your browser determines the current moment in UTC and then converts it to the local time of each exchange using named timezone strings such as America/New_York, Europe/London, and Asia/Tokyo. These timezone definitions are maintained by the IANA Time Zone Database (also called the Olson database), which is embedded in all major browsers and operating systems and updated whenever governments change their DST rules.

The session boundaries — open time, close time, pre-market window, and after-hours window — are hardcoded from each exchange's official published schedule. The live dashboard compares the current local time at each exchange to these fixed boundaries, second by second, to determine whether a market is in its pre-market, regular, after-hours, or closed state. The progress bar on each card represents how far through the current session window the exchange is, as a percentage.

Because all of this runs in the browser, the accuracy of the displayed times depends on your device's system clock being correctly set. On modern devices connected to the internet, this is virtually always the case thanks to network time protocol (NTP) synchronisation.
